Treatment Schedule
When do I take Avastin?
Avastin is taken every 3 weeks to treat your advanced NSCLC. Because Avastin can be scheduled on the same day you get your carboplatin and paclitaxel (chemotherapy), it may not require extra trips to an infusion center.
You always get the same amount of Avastin. If your Avastin infusions are tolerated, they can take as little as 30 minutes.
Because Avastin is given as an infusion, infusion reactions may occur. Your doctor or nurse will stop Avastin infusions if infusion reactions are severe. You will be monitored for signs of an infusion reaction, which may include high blood pressure or severe high blood pressure that may lead to stroke, difficulty breathing, decreased oxygen in red blood cells, a serious allergic reaction, chest pain, headache, tremors, and excessive sweating.
